Understanding Your Eyeglass Prescription

The first series of glasses with a prescription under the Agreement, the right eye. Sometimes recorded O.D. The left eye or O.S. The second line of prescription glasses. The first column is the number of spherical power in all aspects. The numbers indicated generally known to 0.25 diopter steps. 0.12 Occasionally, you can see the steps, but this is rare. Sphere powers identified by a plus or minus sign. This is a very important information because a minus (-) performance improves with vision problems and short-sightedness on the plus (+) power to correct farsightedness. So, if the sphere power of the recipe for a negative number, which is short-sighted, and if the spherical power of positive numbers, forward-thinking as you do. The higher the number, the higher the degree of nearsightedness or farsightedness.

The second column of your glasses prescription is called the power cylinder. If a number in this column means that there is astigmatism. The same plus and minus the number of conventions in the sphere of the power applies to the roll recipe. You may have no number in this column, or it may be a sph. or spherical wrote in this column. In both cases, there is no power, so there is no astigmatism. It is possible that astigmatism in one eye and not the other.

The last column of the axis of the recipe. This is the direction or location of the power cylinder. If there is no cylinder power of the glasses prescription. than not, and will not be specified axis number. If you have a cylinder power, you become a axis. This measurement is from 0 to 180 degrees. Only half of the 360-degree circle is used for 90 and 270 would be the same.

So, if you know the ball rolling power output, and the axis of each eye, you know, if short-sighted, far-sighted, or if you have an astigmatism.

Occasionally, a recipe can be a prism of power. This is usually the people who suffer from diplopia (double vision). You may or decimal fractions like 1 / 2 or 0.75. If you have a prism in the direction of force can be, or base. It is either up, down or out. Prism is a relatively rare phenomenon.
